Seeking Neurointerventionalist
Neurosurgeons of NJ | Ridgewood, New Jersey

Neurosurgeons of NJ, a physician-led and mission-driven, neurosurgery and neurointerventional organization, is currently one of the most successful full-service well-respected sub-specialty driven neurosurgical practice in NJ. The Physician will be required to demonstrate the ability to function both independently and in collaboration with other health care professionals. The Physician will work closely with the Neurointerventional Director and company leadership to ensure compliance with guidelines along with participating in risk and quality programs, research, clinical cerebrovascular meetings and other meetings as required to promote Neurosurgeons of NJ goals.

We are actively recruiting for summer 2022 but may have an opportunity earlier than that.

Competencies for Success

Availability and Accessibility for patients to build trust from their patients. It is expected that Physicians will make themselves as available to their patients as possible by being open and available for walk-in visits and answering phone calls and messages in a timely manner.

Service Orientation — Physician  provides care that they would want for a family member or for themselves to each patient at every interaction.

Evidence Based Medicine — The physician remains updated on evidence-based medicine, but also recognizes that factors outside of traditional medicine, like lifestyle and socio-economic status, have a large impact on patient outcomes and the patients dedication to follow up care. The Physicians stays up to date on clinical and technical guidelines as well as newest interventions to improve outcomes.

Physician Leadership is integral to good healthcare, so the Physician must be willing to continuously work to develop and improve leadership skills for the benefit of one’s patients, their team, their assigned site and Neurosurgeons of NJ.

Quality — Our patients deserve the highest quality of care. This requires a willingness to work with the care teams towards achieving high quality outcomes and quality measures. At the same time, Physician will always be looking for ways to continuously and systematically improve their practice, the operations of their assigned site, and its Neurointerventional lab.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, plus a variety of other word-processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail and presentation software as used by Neurosurgeons of NJ.

Ability and willingness to travel locally as needed between hospitals.

Ability and willingness to work and develop research projects/ innovations.

This job requires use and exercise of independent judgment.

Requirements
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Physician independently provides care and consultation services for the acutely sick and chronic cerebrovascular patient (this may include the minimal invasive spine patient as well if interested). The focus is on Neurointerventional services, and not other general speciality services.

The Physician will get a hospital site assigned to their duty.

It is expected that the physician will engage with the assigned hospital site and other health care providers whenever one of theirs or Neurosurgeons of NJ’s cerebrovascular patients is at their assigned hospital.

The physician will cover call 1 in 4 which includes two to three hospital sites at a time. (Weekdays call is 5pm-7am, Weekends Friday-Sunday)

The Physician will have access to best-in-class neurosurgical, neurointerventional, and cerebrovascular mentorship and advise and is expected to take full advantage of those services. (Ie assistants available for complex cases)

The Physician is responsible for assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, education, procedure, procedural care, care coordination and documentation for patients with cerebrovascular health needs (this may include minimal invasive spine procedures if interested)

The Physician leads their care team consisting of nurse practitioners, physician assistant, administrative assistants and other health care providers (ie residents) This also includes rad techs and RNs in the Neurointerventional Lab at their assigned site.

Physician will have an active role in the management of their assigned site and will help cover for other providers who may be out for various reasons. It is also expected that each physician will take an active role as needed in recruiting patients for its assigned site and additional providers for Neurosurgeons of NJ if necessary.

Performs other duties as assigned and modified at director’s discretion.

The Physicians will adhere to strict company goals/objectives, standards of performance, regulatory compliance, quality patient care compliance, and policies and procedures.

What We Do: 

Consults and management of neurologic disease in the inpatient setting at the Newark (906 beds) and Wilmington (321 beds) campuses. Staff the stroke unit and manage acute stroke in the ED across our system and inpatient. Work 14-16 shifts per 4-week block Responsible for, on average, 6 overnight calls per 4-week block. Overnight call is via video from home after hours. No non-stroke overnight call. Cover inpatient stroke alerts remotely for Wilmington campus and Middletown ED via video.
